Duneland School Corporation health personnel and/or principal will exclude students from school who exhibit symptoms of casual-contact communicable disease according to the protocols established by the Indiana State Department of Health. In order to protect the health and safety of ALL students, casual-contact communicable diseases include diphtheria, scarlet fever, all strep infections, whooping cough, mumps, measles, rubella, and/others designated by the Indiana State Department of Health.
Students with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher and who display symptoms of illness should not return to school until at least 24 hours have passed after the student has been fever-free and without the need for fever-reducing medications.
If your student is diagnosed with a casual-contact communicable disease, such as strep, chickenpox, impetigo, scabies, etc., please inform the school immediately. Every effort is made to keep parents/guardians informed of possible exposure through notices sent home with students when a grade level is exposed.
